Welcome back! We hope you all enjoyed summer and had the chance to take a break!

This week, we are welcoming 300 HEC students from MIF and MEF Programs for their annual study trip in London. The program is fully booked, many thanks to all of you who are welcoming and meeting with them. We still have a few slots for our 3 networking evenings, you can register here

 

We are thrilled to share with you our September program, including a discussion with Jean-Marc Jancovici on climate and finance, a Tech event to share your knowledge on tech, data and IA, a private view of Women in Art exhibition, a Champagne and Whisky tasting and 2 online workshops to deal with complex personalities and overcoming fears.  

 

We also wanted to highlight HEC Life Project that offers a wide range of services to all Alumni to support your career path, from building and developing projects to getting inspire and fulill yourself. Everything you need to start this new season with the right energy and ideas!

HEC Life Project:

a unique ecosystem for your professional development

The time for careers is over. This conviction led us, in January 2020, to launch the HEC Life Project with the aim of promoting a holistic vision of professional development. This is another opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to supporting HEC graduates in the diversity of their careers.

 

Employability must be reinvented. This is necessary in a world where work is undergoing rapid and profound changes and in which it is up to us to ensure our professional path and progress. Who hasn't had to deal with a hierarchical superior with problematic behavior, or an employee with irrational reactions? Among the pitfalls and crab baskets, we can find ourselves grappling with narcissistic bosses, malicious counterparts, hyper-stressed colleagues, toxic employees... These are not necessarily enemies, but rather personalities to be managed.

The New "Future of Money" Research Chair

WordLine, HEC Paris and HEC Foundation are pursuing their joint efforts to further and share knowledge in the payment sector and its future, and to train tomorrow's talents in this field. The Chair will be managed by David Restrepo Amariles, Associate Professor of Law and Artificial Intelligence at HEC Paris. Learn more

SAVE THE DATE - HEC Talks - Rob Hopkins, Author, Professor and Co-Founder of the Transition Network 

Wednesday 13th September - 8pm CET 

Rob Hopkins will honor us with a talk on the theme: "Longing on a large scale is what makes history". He will explore the implications of Don Dellilo's statement for how we approach the climate and ecological emergency. Through captivating stories of rapid change, Rob will argue that we first need to get much better at cultivating longing if we are to kick off the societal transformation we so urgently need. By the end of the session, you will be a fully qualified climate emergency longing generator, which could prove to be the most important skill you learn at HEC! Register on LinkedIn

Social entrepreneurship: "When you get into HEC, you have a duty"

Michael Schwartz (H.10), 37, is a social entrepreneur who specialized in creating third places. After La Cordée, a successful co-working business in France, he fell in love with Montreal, where he created Les Affûtés, a project to reconnect with manual skills. He just won an HEC Mercure Award for his vision. Read more.

Beirut entrepreneurs on being "the last ones standing in a crisis" 

LooliaCloset, SohatiCare, Ounousa… Wassim Kari (M.05) and Elsa Aoun (H.07) built a digital galaxy in the health and beauty sector. From articles to make-up tutorials and online pharmacy shopping, they have the ambition to become the ultimate third party for women in the MENA region. Based in Beirut with offices in Jordan and Egypt, this couple of entrepreneurs just received an HEC Mercure Award for their achievement. But how did they do it in a time of economic crisis? Christian Perret: the HEC network's globetrotter has passed away

One of HEC community’s key figures Christian Perret (H.60) passed away on August 16th at age 85. From Hong Kong to Paris, from Malaysia to the Caribbean, tributes are pouring in from across the globe, attesting to his boundless commitment towards building a powerful international network.
