  • Climate issues are becoming increasingly critical. But what exactly are we talking about and at what scale? What is the link with carbon and energy topics?
  • What is the role of financial actors?
  • What are the key concepts and indicators to know to create a climate/biodiversity strategy as a financial actor?

Please, join us to explore these questions with Jean-Marc Jancovici, Melissa Perez, and Virginie Wauquiez from the Group Carbon4 Finance.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS 

Jean-Marc Jancovici is a founding partner of Carbone 4. His expertise in energy and climate is recognized. Since 2000 he has worked to encourage companies and organizations to integrate carbon constraints in their thinking. To this end he has drafted successive versions of the Bilan Carbone® tool for ADEME, from 2000 to 2010.

He also teaches at Mines ParisTech, as well as giving lectures at many other schools and institutions. He a founder, co-founder or chairperson for many not-for-profit groups, the author a number of books and a regular columnist in the press.

Melissa Perez joined Carbon4 Finance in 2021 as Head of Sales and Business Development. She has a solid background in the financial industry, having worked for renowned banks such as Bank of France, Credit Mutuel Arkea, Société Générale, Morgan Stanley, and BNP Paribas. In her last role at BNPP, she was in charge of developing the sustainability loan offer in Emerging Markets. 

Aside from her professional life, Melissa is Vice President of The Shifters, an association gathering more than 20 000 volunteers in Europe which support the Shift Project, a think tank whose mission is to decarbonize the economy. As Head of the Engagement Department, she creates and coordinates an infrastructure to support hundreds of projects from volunteers. 

Virginie Wauquiez joined Carbon4 Finance in July 2022 as Chief Executive Officer. She brings 26 years of wide and strong expertise in the finance industry, gained through executive roles in capital markets, structured and asset finance, strategy and risk within the HSBC Group. From 2011 to 2020, she served as Risk Chief Operating Officer and Head of Risk Strategy at HSBC, with a specific focus on risk management, risk transformation, regulatory engagement and sustainable finance. She also developed entrepreneurial projects linked to corporate social responsibility and strategic advisory.

 

ABOUT THE SUPPORT OF THE FRENCH EMBASSY IN THE UK 

The Higher Education, Research, and Innovation Service (ESRI) of the French Embassy in the United Kingdom aims to strengthen scientific and academic collaborations and support the community of French students, researchers, and engineers in the UK through the FERN-UK network. The ESRI service also supports bilateral student mobility through the Campus France UK Space, which coordinates the France Alumni UK network, bringing together British and international students who have completed all or part of their studies in France. All programs aimed at welcoming French talent are part of the Lumière! initiative led by the French Embassy in the United Kingdom.
