How Chinese consumers are reshaping global luxury?
This gown made of gold may give you a glimpse

The designer #GuoPei
-Dubbed “China’s Queen of Couture”
-Educated only in China and represents Chinese #craftsmanship in a form of #art
-First made international headlines when #rihanna wore her extravagant dress for #MetGala

Why is this gown so special
-Tremendous amount: 50000 hours for just one piece (equal to 5.7 years if done by one craftsman)
-Large scale: 100 embroiderers working together over 3 months
-Extreme patience: each embroiderer had to thread the needle over 300 times per day as the gold thread is extremely fragile
-Amazing details: 28000 handmade buttons, thousand spools of gold and silver thread, over 100kg etc.
-Highly praised: exhibited and collected by #AustralianMuseum

Insights:

1-The exquisite handicrafts of ancient China were
largely destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, but rising #Chinesedesigners are picking up that “gorgeous language” again

2-With the prosperity of the country, Chinese
consumers will be more confident and prouder of their
culture, thus enjoy more recognitions of Chinese traditions. This is a crucial trend in developing #strategy for #Chinamarket
