SHADOW NEGOTIATION: Women and Power Games
Have you ever exited a room feeling frustrated, realising you hadn’t got what you came for? Feeling you had failed to push forward your priorities, given up ground too fast?Negotiation is a subtle skill. But is it an Art or a Science? Once considered a natural gift, it is now recognised that negotiation is 80% - 90% good preparation and only 10% - 20% intuition. The good news is that we can all learn how to master it.
Fight, Flight or Flee? As women, and due to our culture and education, we often tend to avoid conflict and negotiate with much more empathy and compromise than our male counterparts.
This is not negative as such, but must be balanced with other negotiation techniques.
- How can we manage our image?
- How can we negotiate our value?
- How can we leverage power & influence?
