Come and discover the king of instruments - the organ! During the evening you will find out how an organ works, listen to a short concert illustrating the different features of the instrument at the Notre-Dame-de-France church, and even get to try the organ yourself.
About the musician
![]() | Ophelia Amar (H.19) is a French-British musician, musicologist and arts manager. As a recitalist, recent appearances include solo performances at Leeds Cathedral, Westminster Methodist Central Hall, Troyes Cathedral, Holy Trinity Hereford as part of the 2025 Three Choirs Festival, King’s College Cambridge and St Albans Cathedral. In September 2025 she played at the Royal Festival Hall to accompany dance performances by companies Rambert and LA(HORDE). Ophelia is an Associate of the Royal College of Organists. She is the assistant organist at St Mary’s with St George’s German Lutheran Church in London and plays regularly for services at Notre-Dame-de-France church in Leicester Square and Christ Church Spitalfields. She also has extensive teaching experience and is the current organ tutor at The Latymer School. Ophelia studied at the Royal Academy of Music (MMus and Advanced Diploma in organ), having been awarded an ABRSM EU Scholarship award and the Nicholas Danby Scholarship. Before coming to the UK, she followed a complete course in piano and in organ at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés and was awarded a Premier Prix in both disciplines. While in France and in parallel to her musical activities, Ophelia graduated in History, Political Science and Musicology from the Sorbonne and from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, as well as in Arts management from HEC Paris. Before coming to London, she was an Executive Assistant in a musicians’ agency in Paris (Kajimoto Concert Management). |
