HEC Alumni UAE - Entrepreneur Talks: Jeremy Hodara (Jumia)
For the Second episode of the Entrepreneur Talk, we are thrilled to have an exceptional guest:
Jeremy Hodara, Co-Founder and CEO of Jumia.
After a Master’s Degree in Business Management at HEC Paris, Jeremy spent 6 years at McKinsey and Co learning the ropes of retail and e-commerce industry, both in the USA and France. In 2012, he embarked on a new journey, alongside his co-founder Sacha Poignonnec, launching Jumia.
Dubbed the “Amazon of Africa”, Jumia is the leading pan-African e-commerce player, helping uncover the potential of the continent despite all the logistical hurdles. With an active e-commerce platform across 11 countries, it is a marketplace connecting thousands of sellers to millions of consumers, with integrated logistics and digital payment services.
We will have a busy hour, discussing a broad range of topics, from the birth of the idea to the first steps translating it into reality, from the rapid expansion of the business to the hurdles and opportunities created by Covid pandemic, without forgetting to tap on what an exciting (and demanding) adventure listing the company on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) must have been. Our conversation with Jeremy promises to be an interesting and insightful one.
