Opéra Comique
The Théâtre national de l'Opéra Comique has the status of a public establishment of an industrial and commercial nature (EPIC) and has been assigned a dual mission: the production and dissemination of lyrical works and shows for the widest possible audience; and the promotion of the diversity of expression, from baroque opera to contemporary creation, and of the Opéra Comique's historical repertoire, marked by the place of French opera.

Iphigénie en Tauride
Lyric tragedy in four acts | Libretto by Nicolas-François Guillard
Having taken refuge in Tauris, the priestess Iphigenia must submit to King Thoas, who, terrified by a dream, forces her to sacrifice any stranger who lands on the shore. But when two Greek warriors are shipwrecked, she is overcome by a strange feeling at the sight of one of them...
In 1774, the year of Louis XVI's coronation, Gluck settled in Paris, much to the delight of his former pupil Marie Antoinette. His French works were hugely successful, culminating in the triumph of Iphigénie en Tauride, his final masterpiece.

Werther
Lyrical drama in four acts and five scenes, based on a libretto by Édouard Blau, Paul Milliet and Georges Hartmann, inspired by Goethe's epistolary novel, The Sorrows of Young Werther
Werther is a young, idealistic, sensitive and passionate artist. Upon arriving in Wetzlar, where he plans to settle, he is dazzled by a scene of family happiness, with Charlotte at its centre. Their love of poetry brings them together immediately. But Charlotte has promised her dying mother that she will marry Albert... Massenet is the composer who did the most to make the Opéra-Comique a major creative force. The triumph of Werther in Vienna quickly opened the doors of our institution to him, where it has become one of the most frequently performed works.
