February already, and what a fantastic start to the year for our HEC community in London! Last week, we had the great pleasure of launching the new HEC Foundation campaign in London—and what a success it was. The HEC UK House was buzzing, with a wonderful turnout and many inspiring conversations.
A few snapshots below capture the energy of the evening. If you couldn’t make it and would like to learn more about the campaign, don’t hesitate to reach out to Justine de Guerre, who has recently joined the HEC Foundation team. This is only the beginning… more events are coming, so do keep an eye on what’s next!
The start of the year is also the perfect moment to get involved: we are always looking for new energy, ideas, and onboarding new volunteers— if this speaks to you, please contact Marie. Finally, you may have heard about HEC students regularly visiting London as part of their programme trips. They are always eager to meet alumni, discover careers, and build meaningful connections. We would love to hear from you if you are interested in welcoming students or sharing your experience. Wendyis constantly looking for new ideas and profiles—whether in data science, entrepreneurship, marketing (luxury and product management), finance, economics, strategy, or family business. Thank you for being such an engaged and generous community.
We look forward to seeing many of you very soon. Kind regards,
Your HEC in the UK Team

HEC IN THE UK EVENTS
HEC UK Geopolitics Club - Somaliland: the pivot of the Horn of Africa?
Thursday 5th March - 8:30am
IN PERSON
Somaliland does not exist – at least not as an internationally recognised country. Still, it has governed itself separately from Somalia since 1991, organising democratic elections and running a functioning government. Why is this territory of only 6 million becoming so geopolitically important ? Somaliland today sits at a confluence of interests – strategic location on an oil route, offering access to the sea for Ethiopia. From British protectorate to full independence, this talk will explore why we will hear about Somaliland in the years to come.
HEC Transition - Squaring Disclosure Regulations & Competitiveness in the EU? A proposal by HEC Paris
Thursday 12th February at 5:30pm
ONLINE
Could Europe achieve its sustainability goals without undermining competitiveness? This is a never-ending question that gets more and more momentum these last couple of years. We are pleased to welcome Brian Hill, professor at HEC Paris and CNRS, main author of the policy paper, who will share its key points, and Bertrand Eyraud, Sustainability Officer at Kaufman & Broad, who will provide an operational lens to the matter.
We're often stuck in our to-do lists and they can feel neverending and all consuming. Worse, they stop us from making the big changes that we so often want.
We feel "too busy" to even think about it. The to-do lists keep getting in the way.
Luckily, it's not a lot of time that we need, it's simply a different kind of "to do" list.
Who do you need TO BE to make the changes you want? Your "to be" list is so much more powerful than your "to do" list.
