The 'In Conversation With' series creates a space for members to connect with senior leaders from diverse industries and organisations of all sizes — fostering meaningful dialogue and exchange.

This session designed for sustainability & climate professionals, government & public-sector stakeholders, energy & industrial sector leaders, technology, data & ai specialists is a unique opportunity to hear how the European Space Agency (ESA) is transforming space-based Earth observation into actionable insights that empower decision-making for climate adaptation, resilience, and sustainability.

The ESA plays a leading role in advancing scientific and technological excellence across Europe. Through its Earth Observation Programme and Climate Change Initiative, ESA harnesses satellite data to tackle some of the most pressing challenges of our time — from monitoring environmental change to supporting sustainable development.

Dr Clement Albergel, PhD, Head of the Actionable Climate Information Programme at the European Space Agency, will discuss the following:

  • How ESA transforms Earth observation data into actionable climate intelligence.

  • The role of AI and satellite technology in driving sustainability and innovation.

  • Real-world applications of space-based insights in the energy and industrial sectors.

  • The impact of Franco-British collaboration on climate resilience and sustainable business growth.

  • How space innovation supports the green transition and informs policy alignment across Europe.

Panellists

  • Beatrice Barresi – Senior Sustainable Applications Officer, ESA

  • Quentin Paletta – Postdoctoral Research Fellow in AI and the Use of Earth Observations for Climate, ESA

Together with Dr Albergel, they will explore how climate science, artificial intelligence, and cross-border collaboration are shaping the next frontier of sustainability and innovation.
