Tech as a lever for empowering women
French, Iranian and Afghan women speak out
Tech is often portrayed as a sector where women are under-represented, and where algorithms can accentuate inequalities and discrimination mechanisms.
This is true.
But technology is much more than just a sector of activity; it also represents a formidable lever for empowerment, economic autonomy and freedom, particularly for women.
In France, as on a global scale, it offers unprecedented opportunities to learn, read, create and communicate.
We invite you to take part in these discussions:
Thursday 22 May from 8.30am to 10.00am (*)
Galerie Bourbon,
79 bis, Avenue Marceau, 75116 Paris
(*) Welcome from 8.00 am.
For a round-table discussion to be held in English with :
- Sana KHALESI Founder & CEO, KOMODAA (Tehran)
- Camille MALDJIAN, Co-founder & Sales Manager, EZYMOB (Paris)
- Isabelle MASHOLA, Co-founder & CEO, Isahit (Paris)
- Jinus ROSHANDEL, Managing Director, Digikala Business (Tehran)
This event will be an opportunity to hear from female entrepreneurs from France and Iran about the obstacles they have encountered - and the levers they have activated - to create and develop their digital projects. We will also see how technology, when used to help educate girls, is proving to be a powerful accelerator of equal opportunities and empowerment, as demonstrated by UN programmes aimed at young Afghan women.
The debate will also be broadcast by videoconference (Connection details will be announced at a later date).
