LAUNCH OF HEC WINE CLUB UK

This new London-based club offers alumni an opportunity to learn from famous wine makers from all over the world. Its key focus is on fine wines from the Old World but also on educating members about wines from the “New World” as well as organic and biodynamic wines. LONDON: 3RD HEC UK GALA, 2 FEBRUARY

This year’s Gala will take place at Drapers’ Hall, an exceptional location in the heart of London. The evening will provide the opportunity to stay in touch with fellow alumni and to hear about the latest news at HEC Paris. For the first time, a live auction will be held with prizes sourced from the alumni community. All proceeds will be donated to the HEC Foundation. A DJ will provide live entertainment until midnight. Our Luxembourg chapter will organize a recruitment day on the Jouy-en-Josas campus for companies based in Luxembourg. 20 companies will be present, including a headhunter interested in more experienced profiles.

HEC PARIS JOINS THE WORLD’S BIGGEST STARTUP CENTRE

HEC Paris will open an incubator of 700m2 within the soon to be opened Station F (formerly Halle Freyssinet). Based in Paris, this space will be the biggest start up incubator in the world. “HEC will contribute to the development of the biggest startup ecosystem in the world. We hope to mobilize the strength of our international community to accelerate the growth of our starts-ups at Station F” declared Peter Todd, Dean of HEC Paris.

To celebrate this special anniversary, the Board of the HEC Gala hopes to bring together the full HEC community (young students, more mature students, alumni…) to share this special moment. This exceptional evening will take place on 24 February at the Lido with a dinner and show entitled “Paris merveilleux”.

MEASURING BUSINESS IMPACTS ON PEOPLE’S WELL-BEING

To be organized on 23-24 February, this workshop is organized in collaboration with the OECD, the Society & Organization’s Center (SnO) of HEC Paris, the Humanistic Management Network, Fordham University and is part of the Leading for Well-Being Initiative which seeks to integrate the emerging practice of well-being with more sustainable practices at the corporate, community and policy levels.

L’OREAL PARTNERS WITH ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTRE

A long-standing partner, L’Oréal has been a member of the HEC Foundation’s Board since 1993. After creating a Leadership Chair in 2008, L’Oréal and HEC Paris recently announced an Entrepreneurship Chair to train the next generation of entrepreneurs. The partnership has been signed for 3 years.

CAPGEMINI LAUNCHES ITS DIGITAL CHAIR

A member of the HEC Foundation for over 10 years, Capgemini has reinforced its engagement with the creation of a Digital Experience Chair within the Digital Centre at HEC Paris. This Chair will focus on the changes to customer experience in the digital era.

40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDATION’S PRIZE

Over 200 people gathered in December at the award ceremony for the Foundation’s annual prizes. Prize winners were congratulated by the jury for the relevance of their work for professional life.

MAKING SENSE OF ECONOMIC MODELS

Economics is not considered the most successful scientific discipline, to say the least. There are various lines of critique of the field, some more justified than others. Two recent research papers attempt to add new angles to this methodological discussion, arguing that economic models can be useful and serve society in ways that differ from the classical view of science. By Itzhak Gilboa, Professor of Economy and Decision Sciences at HEC Paris.
